To reiterate:
The damage you take when colliding with non-ship objects seems to have been accidentally nerfed to hell last winter.
This needs to be fixed. Lack of collision damage takes most of the excitement out of flying recklessly. Racing through the tubes and fighting close to asteroids and structures used to be dangerous, and that made it fun.

Yes, I agree, this is just silly.
I'll agree tube racing was a lot more exciting when you had to actually be careful to avoid hitting the walls: pressing turbo until the last instant, trying to drift around the next curve, knowing you could lose a brand new Superlight by nicking the wall at 200 m/s if you were a few milliseconds too late.
+1 it is dumb that you can fly into a roid at 225v and survive
who cares about tube racing, it's now a regular occurrence in combat that people will bounce around off asteroids without any penalty at all, in fact it's even a decent defensive tactic to hit an asteroid, bounce off and avoid flares and the like and then get away.
Not to mention the ability to get inside mesh and avoid damage altogether.
Buff the hell out of collision damage with objects please. The inconvenience of having your ship explode randomly due to a collision is far less important to immersion and gameplay than the absurdity of you surviving the collision and the resulting glitches.

Hmm I thought "Jell-O" gave enough of a hint. With the current collision system you can just glide through shit if you want.

I think you need adequate lag to do this since I keep getting stuck in the mesh instead of going through it :P
I think it's more about the angle you hit the mesh at, but maybe you are actually lagging too much?
I haven't been lagging so far as I know. I just can't reliably glide through the exit wall. :p
I tried it with the Trident. No dice. I was hoping to have the best (only) Trident Type M time on the board. :)
lol, the victor recording is still bugged. Apparently I won that month with a 40-something in an IBG, while your 23 second time in an SL was pushed to this month. :D
