The other day, while playing on my G Nexus as usual, the game client crashed (first time ever). When I opened it back up, it asked me if I wanted to run in a companion mode. I had no idea what this was, but ultimately pressed "ok" thinking nothing of it. Ever since I have pressed that, upon opening the client, the game has run at a consistent 8fps.

In order to make the game playable, I need to dive into advanced settings and manually change the video texture resolution to medium and the visual quality to medium 64meg. I'd like to not have to do this everytime I open the game.

What happened? What is companion mode? How can I turn it off or how can I fix this problem?

It says "Compatibility Mode" not "Companion Mode"

It probably defaulted the configuration file after crashing. If you change the settings, then exit the game via the main menu "quit" button it should save and you won't need to change it again.

Ah, Gotcha. Well unfortunately I change settings every time I log in but settings have never saved into the next login. Is this a bug or is something else going on here?

Sounds like something else is going on. Try changing them w/o logging in and just click quit. Go back in and see if they stick.

Maybe the game is crashing and not saving the settings?
