Ice Roids still sometimes show up crazy colors.
Just for kicks I turned off shaders to see how the ice roid fix looks.
For the most part its fine, but it seems like they'll turn even crazier colors now if you look just the right direction!
Here's a shot with the shaders off. Emerald ice!
Same sector with shaders back on. Interestingly, a restart wasn't required, despite the warning on the Video menu:
Here's a different set of images to illustrate how turning makes them change:
This is still better than not being able to see them at all, which they were before the update.

Here's another interesting artifact!
Wow, that's strange. I did not have those issues. Looks like a driver bug there but maybe not.
I'll give it a whirl on my Intel chip and see if i get similar results. The funny part is all of that goes away if i switch to SM 2.0 FP32. Even the weird patterns on the station.
Like I said, either way it's still better than not being able to see them at all. :)

Well I've got good news and even better good news. It renders right on my laptop's Intel GPU (GMA950) and when I went back to try and get an apitrace to give to the Mesa devs, the Radeon rendered it right too...
I have no idea why this happened and I can't get it to do it again, so.... Fixed!
What was causing the roids to be black/colors/untextured before anyways?

The fixed-function pipeline fallback was failing so the ice was rendering with random garbage and I think OpenGL uses black if an invalid texture is bound to the texture unit.
I vote for no more asteroid fixes for at least a year. Arf will survive.
