Deneb Lack of Standing Penalties

12:37 vo2 [100] <BluBludMun> crazy that you can kill Itani in Deneb and not lose standing :)

Perhaps this should be addressed in some way. Are Deneb sectors meant to be monitored, or is it essentially another grey system? Should battle sectors be monitored and therefore incur standing losses for friendly fire, as a NPC cappie commander watches a pirate fly in and shoot his player support? So far as I know all current standing penalties for friendly fire are through the mission/NPCs, but there is nothing for players or pirates.

It's a war zone and you DO incur standing losses during the missions for friendly fire. (Avalons: My Anti-POS...)

The penalties are smaller though except for station sectors, which work normally.

PS: You can go to Hive Skirmish sectors and do the same thing. Most roid fields aren't monitored except for places where there's newbie bots.

This reeks of exploit to me. Seems to me a nation might get annoyed if a pirate jumps in and kills all its player fighters.

22:10 vo2 [100] <Westacular> well, I nailed some Itani 5 times
22:10 vo2 [100] <ARF_02> very small penalties
22:11 vo2 [100] <ARF_02> most of deneb is Unaligned
22:11 vo2 [100] <Westacular> and the 3rd time I got a few points off
22:11 Nahin !in skirmish sectors?
22:11 vo2 [100] <Westacular> yes

Unaligned or not, perhaps it would be a good idea to give a higher penalty than "a few points" based on the killed player being in skirmish groups in Deneb. I'm sure the cappie commander can read his group chat. :p

For the record, Westacular did this killing on an Itani with Itani Admire standing.

better to have pirates in deneb killing players than nobody in deneb killing players

tarenty, they changed it like this because you used to tank the shit out of your standing when a retarded bot flew in front of your missiles. It was awful. It'd be even more awful with Avalon splash damage that we have now.

A better way to deal with it would be to have the skirmish bots go aggro on anybody who attacks someone on their side of the mission instead of just ignoring them.

The upshot of the whole thing is, basically anyone in a Border Skirmish mission is armed and expecting combat. If you fly to a warzone and get blown up it's not really a surprise.
