Manufacturing Glitch when entering sector in a trident
Building Fused Composite Plating at i8, I had all but 8 silksteel, but returning to i8 with 200 units in an xc aboard a trident with another 600, the mission took the 8 units from my XC upon entering sector and completed the mission before i ever docked. It did not reward me the FCP, tho the mission log says it did.
I can confirm this behaviour, happened to me with the final mission, took all materials as if Trident was a station.
That's interesting. The manufacturing missions must be setup to unload the cargo when the ship docks at any station in the destination sector (capships counted as stations, and an entering station event triggered when entering the sector).
There wouldn't have been enough room in the XC for the FCP with only 8 SS removed. I wonder what happens if the XC would have had room for it. Maybe it would put the FCP in the trident, but that was full too. Clearly a bug in any case.

I'll have to try it again with an empty trident. That would a be hilarious way to load up!
See if it shows up in your inventory someplace across the universe?
In the instance this thread is about it most certainly did NOT show up in my inventory ANYWHERE. I had made one out of inventory, apparently with the last 8 units if silksteel I had at Latos i-8, so I had only 1 FCP in my entire inventory when I took the mission again and the glitch occurred. Sorting inventory by type still only shows 1 FCP.
[edit] come to think of it, there would be no reason the FCP would go into the trident's hold: that is a different character on a different account. I can only imagine it possible to deliver into my hold if there is room.

Confirmed the behavior: if you dock with a trident carrying the last ingredients to be delivered, the mission awards you the manufactured item to your hold if there is room.
Tridents do count as stations (you can use "dock any station" in a pcc mission with capital ships with docking ports for example) and since the game technically only supports one station in a sector at the moment I'm not overly surprised this occurred

Yeah, CrazySpence is right. That's why it happens.
