For what it's worth, my little experience today.
Controls of my ship weren't very smooth today when i made small left/right/up/down turns. The skybox seemed to jerk. After a while playing (let's say 20-30 minutes), usually after a jump suddenly my position would change for about 6000-8000 km and I can't do anything at all. Chat still comes in fine. after a minute or so and pressing return a lot to jump, I'll jump to the next sector/system and then (after entering, jump in effect renders) my ship wont appear, everything seems stuck, only chat keeps working fine. This is the first time in 9 years that this happens to me. Connection is fron Belgium, Europe.

This problem is referring to specific instances where all aspects of the game function perfectly except that hits do not register.

I have new data on this bug.
During the event this was an issue on multiple occasions, I have video footage of it happening in a number of situations, what's worse is that it appears to be very selective flickering on and off at different intervals.
For instance there was one fight with UnCopan where i seemed to be able to slaughter him with flares, but his counter flares didnt do any damage to myself.
Another really strange occurance was a fight with Capt'N Blood, I have footage where he swarms me, i dodge all but a few swarms but they don't trigger damage, then I flare him back and no damage occurs. At this point I stop my ship to laugh and the ridiculousness of the situation, then i get hit by a stream of law guns from a station guards which do damage so I start strafing again. Oddly I noticed that while i couldnt damage capt'n blood at all, I could still kill the seekers and damage NPC's normally. So I flared a bunch of aernas that were next to him and he went up like the hindenburg.
It definitely doesn't look like a network issue when you can damage NPC's no problems but not players. Surely this is a high priority?!?!

Anyone noticed this since the inventory update bug fix? (the one that fixed lagg from rapid damage/repairs at once)
We've had a few doosey battles too like the 16 player furball in b8 and other than regular lagg (where hits still register) I haven't since a no hitter in a bit....

People were complaining about this last week in Odia M-14, but momerath42 already knew about it. Apparently he's got some new monitoring magix in place for the server-side.
Yeah it could have been because of the massive amount of server power required to recalculate the inventories of everybody involved a bazillion times. I have a huge inventory of proms and weapons, ARF's is massive plus all the other long term players in these battles surely would have contributed to the borkosity.
The inventory search bug Ray fixed was client-side though and had to do with the client going through a table of everything in your player's inventory every time you got hit or fired a missile.

Of course there had to be some server involvement, wouldn't it need to query the database from the server to check the inventory or something? I don't think its a coincidence.
The player's inventory is mirrored client-side, IIRC.
Time will tell in any case. It could have also been some involvement with NPC's because every time its occurred there's been potential NPC involvement.

I've seen it happen in the past at Sedina D-2 with probably no NPCs present (don't recall whether or not there was a pet fury around every time it happened).
It happened today and it still isn't fixed.
If anybody from the dev team would like a video which shows clearly what the problem is I am happy to oblige I got like a full 5 minutes of it on camera.

That's fine. Open a support ticket and explain what it is that you want us to see.
Ray, I'd just like to see you play the damn game and fix the mining missions you broke. Take a mining mission and then forget your in a hog, redock.. then grab a moth miner after it says the mission is completed, etc.
This isn't really rocket science, just try different things and fix it. I realize that you don't have alot of time, but when you update stuff and break the entire mining branch of missions, you should at least fix it for god sake.
