Red damage flash completely locks up Android client.
Flying a Trident Type M through an Ion storm today with my Android phone, I got hit by Aputech-5 bots with their popcorn guns.
As soon as they started hitting my ship, the game client hung from the repeated red flashes. I got the Android ANR dialog and the game quit.
I can imagine this problem has probably resulted in plenty of Android newbies untimely demise. The game logged me off before the Trident died, but any other ship would have been toast. Might wanna fix this.
For reference, I'm running this on a Motorola Photon Q (1.5ghz Snapdragon S4)

Ok, i just tested this again with the red flash turned all the way off and no plugins and had CrazySpence shoot a single Flechette and Gatling Turret at my ship.
Either one of these weapons brings the game client to a screeching halt. /fps shows a nice steady ~40fps until the shots start hitting, where it promptly drops to the ~1-2fps range and doesn't respond to any user input.

For the record, I don't think this is network related. If it was, it'd manifest as ships lagging around, not the client griding to a halt.
When the weapons were fired in front of my ship, but not hitting it, it caused a minimal impact on FPS.

Did you install the game from the Google Play Store?
Send the openglesinfo.log file that's located in the VendettaOnline directory of your phone.

Yeah, I installed it via the Google Play Store, and other than this problem it runs really well.
So even a single shot causes this drop?
If you damage yourself, by ramming into something for example, and the red flash happens, does it still lower your framerate?

A single shot does it very breifly, even if I have the red flash intensity turned all the way to zero.
I'll check if crashing into stuff also does it.

Ok, I just got a chance to test this. Taking damage from banging into asteroids and station parts also causes a pretty big FPS hit. With F/A mode on facing the right way it lags pretty bad from the repeated damage.
Do you have any plugins on 'droid ARF? Because I just tried this on a HTC One X and red flash gave me no more lag than it does on PC. I was connected to my home WiFi, and I have a pretty good connection so.
[edit]
The red flash thing does cause lag though, always has. Even since like vendetta-test.2.4.1 or summink.

Nope, no plugins. I removed all of them to test this. I wish I could change the thread title since it's not the red flash that does it. It's taking damage.
Even with the flash turned all the way down it still does it.
The HTC One X is a Tegra3 device right? Totally different GPU.
Anyone else got another Snapdragon S4-powered phone or tablet to try this on?

Hm. Taking damage also flashes your ship health indicator.
Try hiding the HUD completely and see if that has any factor in the FPS hit.

I just tested on HTC Evo 3D (snapdragon), and I don't seem to lag when hit by Aputech popcorn.
Ok, I just tried it with the HUD hidden and the game doesn't even flinch. Looks like you're on to something there, Ray.
On the tiny phone HUD, there's no ship wireframe model to blink though, just a colored %.

Ah yeah that's right.
Thanks for testing it with the hidden HUD.

Just installed VO on an Xperia (SK17) Mini Pro, it's screen isn't really big enough to call good, but it works.
It's a snapdragon, and quite lacking really compared to say - the Xperia Play - but I don't see this problem when on WiFi. I've not updated this device to ICS yet, so it's still 2.3. Tried it on 3G but it refused to connect.
Got to be network related?

I was on wifi with my 15/5 fiber at home.
If it's network-related, why does it go away when I hide the hud?

This happened to me again today on my Transformer TF300T. Got disconnected because the game froze up for so long.
Here's a video I took last night. No plugins installed, with the HUD hidden, and /fps and /toggleframerategraph

The shots you hear are repair module blasts, 2 at a time fired from a Ragnarok. Notice the significant dip in FPS and how the game just sort of hangs momentarily after each one? Multiply that by the fire rate of 2 gatling turrets and a vulture with ravens and you get a totally unresponsive VO client.

I just lost yet another Trident Type M to NPCs because of this. Game froze up with ANR, Sent a report.
Fixed as of VO 1.8.250!
Thanks Ray!
