Jump Lag
I've experienced it myself and seen several complaints in chat about weird jumping behaviors: Hitting the key, and getting the "wormhole"/particle-stream effect, but staying in first person view and drifting a few seconds before actually loading up the destination. I've also seen delays in damage beeps and kill notifications. The target's HP updated normally but it wasn't until a second or two after that I got a string of hit beeps and the "Target down! +whatever weapons EXP" message. This isn't anything I've ever seen in my usual lagspikes, so I'm curious if anyone has any idea what's causing it.
yea i see it all the time when i'm laggy, it's lagg
this started happening at the same time the mission list thing I posted about did... all related i'm guessing to whatever VO is downloading to "update" itself
Simple lag, almost certainly on your end. I get the same thing when lagging, or alternatively something similar, in which case I hit the jump key and when I stop lagging see myself jump from far, far away. There is nothing that can be done for it, I think.
It's not our end. I was running XChat at the same time as VO and the chat was delayed on VO, but appearing on real time XChat. It does have to do with VO's interaction with the player, and it seems to lose connection for about 30 seconds or more. Usually happens something like a minute into the game's login.
It is the player to an extent, where it lags that player only. But there cannot possibly be something wrong with every single person's ISP.

Check your connection first... type /ping into chat to get latency. This happens to me sometimes when I'm on 3G mobile, almost never when I'm at home on my laptop over wifi. I think it's a lag issue.
My client certainly doesn't seem "to lose connection for about 30 seconds or more" about a minute after I log in.

If it's about a minute after you log in, it's possible that it's related to the mission list. After first logging in, I can never launch without about a fifteen to twenty second lag at "Launching."
Well I get both the mission list lag, and it happens when customizing ships, or jumping, or even launching.
Maybe it feels like forever. heh

This has happened to me plenty of times lately. Usually on the first jump after logging in. The jump animation will go off in first person mode and you won't leave the sector for a minute or so. /ping doesn't indicate any problems, but then again it never does for me, even when there's obviously lag. /ping is a liar. :)
ALL OF THE MISSION LAG!
yes me too

Same here, I get the launch lag, chat lag, and occasionally the jump lag, mostly within a minute or two of logging on, but I sometimes get the jump lag and chat lag when I've been on for ages.
But then, I also get lag spikes of1 to upto 20-30 seconds during combat too at random times (prolly out of combat as well, but I'd not notice that).
Faille.

When does this lag start relative to login? Within a minute or some time after? Does it not start happening until you do something like view the mission log or launch or jump to another sector or something?
It's usually the first jump out of the sector you logged in from, but it's happened elsewhere too. I think it does correlate with opening the mission board first, but I haven't figured out the exact sequence to make it happen.
I get it immediately after I log in when launching from a staton, and immediately after opening the mission board in space after logging in in space.
