They're having a party over in the new station. :P

the new station is gonna be rather lonely if the devs don't fix the bugs plaguing ATI users. DirectX is now next to useless and OpenGL crashes Vendetta like there's no tomorrow.

I have nvidia card running under DirectX in windows and OpenGL in Linux, no problem. Now if only hw2 didn't crash for me!

Heh, you post at 5pm on a saturday and expect a reply within two hours?

A big priority for the coming week will be fixing graphics glitches with the new station stuff. So don't worry! We'll look at your problem as soon as we can.

i just tried some tweaked drivers and my gameplay is running smoothly again at slightly lower graphics levels.

16 ATI RAGE 128 Pro (comes with the 350 Mhz G4),
running OPENGL.

Works great... 'cept it's a little slow.

One thing to try, which I read on some other sites involving ATI problems, is to completely uninstall old ATI drivers before installing the latest.

For homeworld 2.
Go to http://homeworld2.sierra.com/homeworld2.php then community->forums->techsupport. There are several known issues with ati cards. If you cannot find a post with a problem simular to yours then make a new post with your dxdiag log attached as a text file.

Someone in game asked me when the hw2 dev mod tools will be released, the awnser is mid October. The HW1 source was released two days ago. Hw2 uses a ton of Lua4. Vendetta also uses Lua server side I think.

The new station looks really nice by the way. If it is changed to were you can repair at one port, buy ammo at another, ships at another, cargo at another, it will be intresting to see how that affects gameplay.

cembandit: I have a post on those forums, entitled "Demo works, final gives BSOD". Everyone said it's cause Windows ME doesn't work with Homeworld (in contrary to what the box says).

The massive scale of Homeworld 2 just kicks major ass. Capital ships and stations are HUGE, and fighters are tiny. The background textures are also prettier and easier to deal with when locating enemies. That was one of the reasons why I opted to turn backgrounds off for Vendetta--simply because there was too much clutter and it was hard to locate other ships. I hope Guild tones down some of those background textures so they look simpler and more atmospheric like Homeworld 2.

So we have elements of Linux, Bugs, and Off Topic / competition in the same thread. Please try to stay on topic so I don't have to remove your posts.
