I'm not sure if this is even possible, but last night, I fired a volley of chaos swarms at a strike force vulture, and some missed, but enough hit to pop it right away. Then the others, appeared to circle around and home in on an aerna seeker. I dunno, maybe i just got insanely lucky, but I kinda doubt it. This was the orion station in latos, between 00:39:54 and 00:40:06 according to my errors.log.

They're supposed to do that, but I've never seen it before.

Swarms will re-target stuff if something flies in between them and their target. I get "friendly" fire from NPC tridents pretty often in border skirmishes because of this.

do they actually home in on you ARF? or do they just crash into you?

Nah, I know what he's talking about and they do beep/home. ARF, are you sure that's not just the reaction from part of your fire catching the trident? Happens to me sometimes after some spam catches a trident that got between me and the queen.

Yeah, usually it's when I fly between the Trident and it's target (some NPC fighter) or stray ones that missed their target and happened to line up on me. It homes in and blows up as if they were originally targetted at me.
