can't open updaf695.pch! aborting!
If you experience the issue mentioned in the subject, please right-click on the Vendetta Online icon and select "Run as Administrator". It will then update to the 1.8.189.1 version (or newer) that will fix this issue.
This problem was raised somehow by our changing the game icon. Windows apparently forgets the app requires administrative privs, and the 189.1 update forces it to do so.
Eventually VO will not require administrative privs, this is a holdover from how XP/2000 apps were installed, which was completely changed by the Vista/Windows-7 "security" model. We have to move files to totally different locations, and come up with a new methodology of triggering updates to work around the "Administrator" requirements. It is a substantial change for a self-updating game like ours, which is why it hasn't taken place yet.

Yes Inc, and once you have got it just right, they will bring out Windows 8. Bloody Microsoft.
Way back when I installed it the first time I just changed perms on the C:\Program Files (x86)\Vendetta Online\ directory so I could run it as a normal user.
That's not really a "solution" though...

Well the best solution, and the proper way to do it, would be to only place files in Program files that never change, and put everything else in a folder in the users directory (For example C:/Users/myusername/app data/roaming/vendetta online). Of course this is not very practical for VO, as any file can be changed in an update.
Maybe change the default install location just be in %appdata%/Vendetta online? It would be backwards compatible with XP/2000 also, but of course does create problems for those who change the default location back to program files.
