Yes. I do fly in third person.
The problem is that every time you (I) dock, or warp the view switches back to first person.
Makes me sad :-[

Actually i think this should be set so it remembers what mode it is set to.

ummmm I'm not sure that feature is going to make it to the final game...... and it should probably be a suggestion not a bug.
