Packet Loss in 3.3
Yeah, esp. in 12 and 9 when I look at the roids. tosh and others insist it's just my computer, but when I look at 10 I'm fine. When I'm in 12 and I /ping, 9 times outta 10 it says Ping last: 0.
I've been getting a lot of packet loss in 3.3. I assumed it was just something wrong with my connection, but I've talked to some other people who have the same experience. Is it just me or are there more testers who have been experiencing problems?
How do you figure you're getting packet loss? What are you seeing specifically?
A /ping of 0 isn't necessarily indicative of a problem, although it is odd.

My ping is around 65, most of the time. Then for a moment 'last' jumps to somewhere in the range 300-1000+. I'll get generally smoth play, and then one big hop. All of the sudden everything everyone (including me) said in the past second appears. Ships I'm looking at will breifly go in straight lines. I'll suddenly take damage from someone shooting me, even though the shots appeared to miss. Sometimes much more extreme things... which I've put into bug reports.
Yea me an Eldrad were doing multiple duels. The first ones went fine and everything. Then I started having text problems(where i'd have to send my text 2-3 times just to get it to actually show up) and the ships would start chopping across the sky on my screen and it kind of made the duel impossible to play on my end. A little bit later Eldrad started having the same issues. Just like mine his text wasn't going exactly though. He was getting lagged damage. My ping at the time was 30 so I don't see how and why I should have felt anything esp like the text not sending or the ship jumping around.
see?? this is why we need a ping graph.
Oh yeah, i've noticed a lot of lower pings in 3.3. I assume this is a good thing though.

/me gets that more often too..
I've talked to a lot of people who feel they are getting a lot more lag in 3.3.
From what I've noticed recently, a number of active people (as low as 5 or 6) in one sector is causing lag for many of the people in the sector. I realy don't know if it's packet loss or not... that's just what wayland said a while ago.

Sounds like it, yes. Interesting. Someone on our network may be using lots of bandwidth, and it certainly isn't us (lately, at least...). I'll discuss it with Phil, the mysterious Guild member who is mostly in charge of said network.
can it be the bountybots and ircbots that look at the x events that hog up some of the bandwidth ?
I dont think so, but just asking.
PS: I get that lagging thing to, but my average is 140 - 170 all of the time andf then always right in the middle of a fight, I start lagging or my oponent starts lagging.
After az while it gets really annoying. It also explains, why I have stopped dueling so much, its not fair for them nor for me. So im taking out my grieve on some of the defense bots :D
stupid bots , boosting right into my rockets :D

Not likely.
The scripts should do everything on the users computer. So it's really unlikely.
a1k0n thanks. Keep us informed if you find anything.
