The Undocking into someone is annoying as hell bug
I think the devs mentioned that docking and undocking will have an animation in eventually. I'd imagine a type of hangar door opening and just having your ship autopilot its way out, pushing any other ship in its way outta the way. That would probably be the most practical solution.
...Unless of course the devs want to add telefragging into the game.

True, but isn't my solution a much more... humorous way?
It's still around. you undock and someone's in your way, you cant move FOREVER. this is so annoying. It's been around sinse 3.2, and reported several times, but never fixed.
there. I just had to force quit to get out of this bug. someone's gonna die now.
lol... sorry, just the way your second post was worded
Ummm, I found just running them out of the way while your still invicible works just fine.
What is, is that your FPS drop to near zero when you ram into them (actually, your ship's model halfway meshes with the other player's ship model). My opinion is that it's not easy to fix, like seams between a wall in a FPS, there will always be places where you can see through it or inside of it.,
I think that if it happens your ship's mass should 'kick' the other ship out of the way.
Or of course we could have docking collisions...

LOL! I love it!
hahahha... In 3.1, the other ships were pushed out of the way as i recall. no problem there. why cant that be reimplanted?
Well the idea behind the docking accident is that if you get hit by a ship coming out of dock, you get killed if you aren't invulnerable at the time. If you are, youiget shoved out of the way at a high speed away from the dock in a direction determined by your ship's orientation, it's class, and the undocking ship's type.
yeah. If some loser wants to sit in the docks, it's his falt. when he gets hurled at high speeds into an astroid or something. OhH! think of undocking into station nukers!
This is obviously a problem with collision detection. In same cases it prevents you from docking because of the huge FPS drop it creates. I think the collision code will eventually be rewritten so that the wing bug and spawning bug won't occur anymore.
Arolte: Yes.
It's not a problem of collision detection nor collision response, per se, it's a problem of creating an object without checking to see if anything's there first, and of course intersecting something as a result. I'd fix it, but then not being able to undock because people are sitting in front of docking bays for the sole purpose of preventing you from undocking would be really, really annoying.
So an undocking animation with an invisible one-way wall would probably be the safest bet. The new docking bays on the new stations, by the way, are much, much better. Spacious and inviting, with the latest in Feng Shui interior decorating techniques.

I still like my idea for the time being.
/me hates people that let me get the water in my mouth and then let me linger on my hunger :(
cheers

Rofl! Feng Shui.
So there's a frozen waterfall in one corner, with a little bridge and tastefully-arranged asteroids?
/me just needs to look up all the Feng Shui rules so parking his bus in teh dock won't screw it all up...
