Shots not being recognized - Android

I saw this issue posted for the PC version in a thread about a year old (that had no solution), but VO on my Acer Iconia a500 Tab is having a similar issue. The game runs great, obviously, on this tablet and is running smoothly. When I first started playing yesterday, I had absolutely no issues shooting NPCs. Today, however, I took the training job to kill 4 ships though, and midway, it seemed as if my shots had no effect on anyone. The NCPs would also seem like they were slowly tumbling through space, then after 15 seconds or so, would immediately be somewhere else, as if they teleported or something.

I'm assuming this has something to do with lag, however, I can't imagine it's on my end. I have roadrunner broadband, and my speed test is showing really high speeds, with other online games running flawlessly on my home network (PC and Tablet both running quickly).

If there is a work around for this, and if this is a known issue, please let me know what to do. I'm still on the 8 hour trial and am absolutely in love with the game, but I simply won't buy it if I can't perform a such basic function as shooting an enemy.

Thanks in advance.

The lag could be on your end, VO's end or *anywhere* in between.

"Speed" isn't as important as latency when it comes to lag, fyi.

When you experience lag, make sure you don't have crap running in the background using the network, such as torrents, streaming music, etc. Also, if there are other people on your network that are engaged in those sorts of activities, they could also impact it.

Otherwise, you can just try again an hour or two later - the state of the internet between you and VO's server will vary with time. Sometimes you might lag, sometimes you might not. Usually you probably won't - I rarely do anyway.

The first thing I would look into is the possibility of a wifi dropout. Wifi can be pretty inherently unreliable, and the 2.4ghz signal band is pretty heavily used. At my suburban house, with a substantial yard and distance to my neighbors, I can still see something like 20+ wifi hotspots all talking on top of one another. It took 802.11n with separate access points at each end of the house, split across the high and low ends of the spectrum, before I was able to get something reasonably reliable. Even so, I still get occasional dropouts.

Keep in mind, it could even have nothing to do with usage of your connectivity or wifi, but rather someone starting a large download or other traffic patten who is using the same or a nearby wifi channel. The amount of overlap between the "channels" is significant, each wifi channel option steps (to a decreasing extent) on the 2-3 "channels" above and below it. I wish they had added greater spectrum and signal separation, although 802.11n has at least improved reliability a bit.

People usually don't realize how.. unreliable wifi actually is, because general web and email usage is fairly friendly to short connection dropouts. A realtime online game, however, is one of the worst cases for demonstrating issues in an underlying transport.

And, as abortretryfail notes, the connection issue could theoretically be anywhere between you and our servers. The internet itself has its fair share of issues, and whether or not they impact other games at the same time as ours is simply a reflection of routing diversity (rather than anything specific to our game, or to their games, or inherent reliability thereof).

Revisiting this subject on my own similar lag issues
It would appear this is the nature of online games and not everyone will experience the same game play action and thus makes the game somewhat unfair for many.

After testing everything that everyone could suggest and even switching to the suggested ISP and although there is some change but not as much as I had hoped, I have to conclude online games in general or the servers/programming itself could cause this

Without any proof of such I could not find anything that would also conclude that it was a connection related issue either.

This subject really blows
