beep when you hurt yo self
very,v ery annoying. It beeps when you blow something up and the spash from your weapons gets you
Dunno if this is really a bug. A beep only means that your weapons have registered a hit. Wouldn't it make sense to register that hit for yourself also? I dunno... to me it does.
I agree with Arolte. The game is designed to beep whenever your weapons register a hit on a ship *and do damage*. I don't recall getting a beep when I hit a teammate that I targeted, or a stationary object, like a station or an asteroid.
Because you are able to do damage to yourself (I believe this is the reason you are in a red box if you target yourself), it only makes sense that you get a beep when you recieve splash damage.

but look at it this way... Do you really care if you hurt yourself? Do you need to hear a beep that will confuse you so you dont know if you hit an enemy with a glansing blow from your splash when a rocket hits a roid? I dotn think so. All the beep does is confuse people.
That is true, so perhaps a different beep for self-damage is in order.
While we're talking beeps, I think it would be cool to hear beeping noises when your hull is critically low. A lot of sounds are actually missing from the game (collision sounds being a big one). Me thinks Incarnate needs a little prodding.
=)
=)
too many beeping noises = *ick*. What about a seductive, computerized female voice? :D

Why do all guns have the same noise?
Because the onboard computers are all P54766s, and thus are very limited. If the ship builders would just upgrade to G565412s, then we could have all the beeps and blips and sounds in the world.
Besides, who knows how the weapons sound in the dead of space? Our ship's computers just try to match the weapon's apperance with a weapon sound, so it gives all blasters a "blaster" sound.

Um. Space doesn't matter. You'd hear your own guns. Metal conducts sound, you know. :D
plus.. apparently sound waves of certain sizes do travel through space.
Below is the story you are probably referring to regarding sound travelling through space. In fact, sounds cannot travel through space, but they can be observed travelling through hot gasses in space as detected by an X-Ray telescope.
Its a bit like being unable to feel the wind blow outside because you are inside, but you know it is because you can see the trees moving.
