Specifically, it's more or less useless because it doesn't operate in ion storms, which is the one place it would be most useful. I tried experimenting today with it, using a ragnarok with a heavy storm extender and shared group extender, and my group mate couldn't target anything outside his field of vision, including asteroids or bots within my own non-extended radar range.

Shared extender needs to work in storms, and also to work alongside with any storm extenders deployed by the group.

well the problem is you need a line of site to your pals and in a storm if the guy acting as the radar hub doesn't have a storm radar and cant see everyone then the data doesn't relay to the other members.

so if everyone in your group is within 2k of each other you can throw a massive net but if you space out, no shared radar

without knowing that it can be kinda useless i suppose. there needs to be a group storm radar extender

I'm pretty sure the testing we did covered that scenario as well. There was a lot of time when we were right next to eachother, but my partner reported never seeing any change in his low radar coverage. We did it twice with the same results. I had both the storm extender and shared extender equipped to my ship, and he had neither on his.

Does it perhaps require shared radar extenders on both ships? if it does it shouldn't. The shared extender needs to work for everyone in the group that is within 2km of the shared extender equipped ship. If two ships have extenders they should be able to go 4km apart.
