Observer optics drops....150 cu each?

Are you kidding?

They are very large optics. Basically the whole size of the Observer itself.

Valkyries, Vultures, EC's, and Centurions are all larger than Observers, yet they are 100 cu station storage. Any VO ship is larger than an observer. I recognize that items are not needed in a bot that are in a player ship, but really. You guys designed the sizes of ships. You know very well Observers are even smaller than the smallest player ship, which is 100 cu, not 150. This is ridiculous.

I would consider that perhaps it is the itemized ship volumes which need updating to modern times, and not the observer optics volume.

I think it would be pretty amusing to see you navigating a hive system with an xc

good luck! i am sure they are heavy too.

Plus I'm sure instead of reducing the size of this you have just earned us all lesser station hold space with bigger cu ships. thanks nahin

The BM2 can also hold it.....

so far optics 1 , Kettle 0.

They are 80kgs. 80kgs for 150 cu, compared to a lightweight valk's 3100kgs for 100 cu.

guys, guys... it's obvious that salvaging them properly requires converting the hold of your ship into a clean room where each individual component can be carefully deconstructed and stored. Of course it takes a lot of space, but if you don't like it, don't be picking them up!

It's all packaging.
Like when you order a little electronic trinket and it comes in a huge cardboard box filled with packing peanuts because it's fragile.

You cant just throw the lenses in the back of an atlas to get banged around and hope they're not in 10000 pieces when you get back to the station.

and where does the package come from??

Only possible explanation is that it is not a solid lens, but a balloon... once exposed to vacuum, grows widely...

Consider, an observer bot is less than 80cu total, including engines, sensors, hull... and its content is 150cu?

As Nahim said, observers are smaller than centurions, which uses 100cu while docked at stations. If an observer can drop 150 cu cargo, then a centurio should carry at least 200cu...

I might as well also say that I feel 150cu is a bit over the top. I wouldn't have any drop be bigger than the regular moth in size just cause the regular moth can be accessed by most players at a semi decent trade level through corvus thus allowing even those members who don't wish to spend all their game time trading to gather stuff for those of us who are willing to spend a month or two ingame time flying back and forth across the verse gathering goods.

Can't carry it? Tough. Pay somebody who can.

+1 to Big Freaking Items.

The _only_ issue I have with the size of this is the weirdness factor considering it comes from an observer, but given the absurdity of VO physics it doesn't really bug me much. I can see it physically occupying 75cu, with another 25cu or so used for padding (which can be simply inflatable cushions, Alloh, so that they can be deflated and stored in very little space when not in use). The missing 50cu? I care more about the fact that I can't push asteroids...

Heck, maybe it's still alive and you don't possess the technical abilities to neutralize it without damaging anything, so you need to give it that much more space so it doesn't damage itself thrashing about in your hold.
