/roll does not work on linux
By that I mean, typing /roll or /+accelerate, or probably any of the other joystick commands, into a chat prompt or into the console does not have the expected effect of rolling or accelerating the ship.
Adding a parameter does not help, and neither does making an alias of the command, with or without a parameter.
According to some dudes from 100, /roll does nothing on any of their linux installs, and some other dudes said that /roll rolls quite effectively on their (non-linux) systems.
PS: Amusingly, binding roll directly to a button does make it work, but since aliasing "roll 0" before binding it makes it not work, stopping rolling takes a game restart.

The devs made it so you can't control your ship with an alias. I suppose they forgot the roll.
So, when I posted this thread, I had been under the impression that the update that killed off the un-cool plugins did so by changing the way lua access to binds that move the ship work, but I guess it is quite a bit simpler to just change the way that ship-moving binds work.
After trying out the joystick commands on a macosx install, I now realize that either someone was misleading me when they said the roll command worked on their machine, or somehow windows installs are unaffected by this new restriction on moving binds. Either way, the thread's title's a little silly looking now.

Maybe you could change it to /troll does not work . . . ?
