I'll just be making a sector jump, or a wormhole, or I just left the station and KABOOM! The whole Vendetta application closes, and I get some kind of dialog box with an option to send a message somewhere.

I'm curious if this is common, or is something wrong with my PC?

I have also had a number of random crashes recently, usually dumps me back at my home station with no ship.

It is worth using the crash reporter if it pops up. it sends info to the devs which may help spot the problem.

My crashes dump me to my desktop. I do submit the crash reports that pop up, but I haven't gotten any responses from any support staff.

I'm just trying to determine if these frequent crashes are something that other players have just learned to live with, or is there a cause for the crashes that can be remedied?

The VO client has been quite stable for me recently, which is pretty much how it's always been.

davejohn: anything that causes you to still be in the game is not a client crash in any way.

saxon: We usually look at the client crashes about every week, and haven't done so yet. It's possible we introduced some sort of bug, we'll check into it.

However, 99 times out of 100, client crashes like you describe are from some sort of driver bug or hardware issue (like a video chip overheating). Double check that you have the latest and greatest drivers for your videocard, etc.

Sorry inc , I wasn't being clear. The crash dumps me to the desktop, I fill in the crash reporter. It usually dumps me back at my home station with no ship when I restart vo.

Oh yea, i forgot to mention, on the rare occasion that I have a crash, the bug reporter ends up crashing when i try to use it. Please let me know what I can do on my end to help diagnose the problem should it happen again.

Are there any plugins loaded when your clients crash? If you're getting a lot of crashes, stop using plugins and see if that helps.

raybondo, if I were using plugins, I would have uninstalled them all before asking for help here. Plugins are definitely not the problem causing my game client to crash.

It could be all those porn sites though :)
