[NPC] killing [NPCDEF]

Aug 12, 2003 StarFreeze link
Now I know it's nice and all having npc in the sector but when they start going after the npc defenses it's just hilarious. Seeing npcs all gang up on one npc def usually one of the heavies. Even if the sector has been quite peaceful the npc's and defenses will start killing each other. Hehehe

How?

How what kind of question is that? How? I don't know...the magic forms in the galaxy pulled together and made the npc and the npcdef fight each other. Rogue by the looks of it you're just trying to get posts. Bad rogue!

It just happens sometimes out of the blue.

I mean how if ff is off. How can they shoot each other?

FF isn't on to begin with. I thought so too, but a1k0n prointed out that that's not the case. That's why you'll see the Frigate spontaneously combusting once in a while. Those dumb bots crash into it too many frickin' times. Retarded AI.

Kinda on\off topicish.

I'd like to see the turrets kill normal npc's so the n00bs fleeing from a npc too tough for them to take on can survive, if barely.

Because the damage from the rockets the heavies fling with such abandon registers as an attack, even though it does no damage. A solution to this would be to have the NPC AI check its hull points (not %) when it registers a hit. If it took damage, go after the guy. If it didn't, don't bother. Voila:
furies killing the frigate bug= gone.
turrets attacking turrets bug= gone.
NPCDEFs attacking each other bug= gone.

Err... the reason the Furies kill the Frigate is purely accidental. The Frigate itself doesn't shoot at the Furies. They simply run into the Frigate accidentally. After enough explosions it causes the Frigate to issue.

Perhaps some "ouch" code, that makes them analyze the vector of their hit and run the other way for 5 seconds if they run into something?

Could be a bad idea. Then all you gotta do is hide behind a roid to scare the bots away. A better idea is to *WOW* put in collision detection that doesn't rely on an outdated map.

This has also happened in 3.3.3 i was just botting and then insteady of them shoot themselfs they shot at me thinking i was an enemy and i crashed right into it and it exploded this is i got the score and everything and it said "Sector0 destroyed [NPCDEF] Blue 6" i was shocked to hear of that i actually killed a blue def bot it even appeared as a green dot so i think this bug should be fixed. This actually happened continuously, the def bot go angry since i killed it so it kept going after me and i kept bumping into the bot and it kept dying so i finally left s4 and went back to s4 it went again and kept saying "Sector0 Destroyed [NPCDEF]Blue6]" that is when i got off vendetta and logged back on it then stopped.

I know that bug it can get really annoying. That is probably why people don`t like to cap, when the bots are together they can kill each other and then you have to go back and group them again. Sometimes it is a good thing but most of the time bad. This bug should definately be fixed. Not only will it make it harder for them to kill enemies it will make everything more annoying and will make it harder to do things such as cap and distract.
