Negative damage, once again
Yet another way to get negative damage.
Easy to do when your hull is low and a ping of about 200-250 (my usual).
Because of the lag, you'll get damage AFTER you've already docked, meaning, if you had hull of, let's say, 2%, a vulture and dock at 200 mps and rammed the dock, you'll got more damage, MORE than 2% because of the lag.
If you don't repair and undock, you'll have negative damage and won't really be undocked.
You can /explode, there won't be an explosion, though, since you aren't really undocked.
You can't move/target ships/change view.
Because of the lag, you CAN target a ship, though, but then you won't able anymore.

I suggest adding something that checks your hull (if your hull is <=0 then display a massage or something) before undocking.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have "if hull <= 0, then kill fi"? Since with <0 you are dead anyhow...
I don't think so.
If you hadn't the lag you wouldn't get the negative damage.
You get the damage AFTER docking, so I don't think you should die because of it, since you're docked.
This thingy might change in 3.3, because then the docking might be different. Now, docking is simple and I don't think you should die INSIDE the dock (becuase of the lag).

Dunno...
You get damage due to ramming the station, it only registers after you docked due to the lag. If you didn't have the lag, you would be dead before you could dock.
Therefore I don't think it's wrong to kill you when your health goes negative, regardless if you're docked or not.
On the other hand, I died lots of times because of the lag. You go for the docks, repeatedly hit your ENTER key to dock, but can't dock 'coz of the lag. Meanwhile someone shoots you, only you wouldn't know because you're lagging and the packets informing you you're being hit don't arrive at your client. Then all of a sudden the lag dissipates, the queued network packets for your client roll in, and BOOM: you're dead. And you never saw anything hit you.
This issue needs to be resolved, but it's not the most important of problems IMHO. However, I do get the impression that lag is becoming more and more of an issue lately. Especialy when there's a war going on in a sector. And I'm talking small-scale 10 person wars here, not the huge fleet vs fleet wars we're hoping to one day see in the final product. Seems like some weapons overload the server CPU-wise, 'coz I can't think of any reason why this would be a network-related problem.

If you didn't have the lag, you wouldn't have had rammed the station. Nuff said.
Most of the lag issues aren't related to a large number of players, but the location and connection of the player, like me :(.

Oh, sorry, misread your post. Thought you ment damage due to gettign a couple of laser shots in the arse while waiting like mad inside the station dock for the station to finaly accept your docking request.
btw: "I suggest adding something that checks your hull (if your hull is <=0 then display a massage or something) before undocking."
I suggest having some setting where one can choose if he wants to auto-repair and auto-reload when docked if he can afford it.
