Forum bug...

Yea...you may to set some limits on the title.

Heh, ok.
One more reason to convert to phpBB. ;)
The devs detest phpBB. As a matter of fact, they threaten death to anyone that suggests it...
Heh, I made that title months and months ago, back when we could still use anything HTML had to offer in the title. I even made one called "duels" with an animated gif of two vultures flying back and forth, that was the same height as the forum text. Not sure where that image went.
I don't understand why the devs detest phpbb that much. It's a lot better than this thing anyway. True, a forum doesn't need all the bells and whistles of something like phpbb or vbullettin. But some sort of indication to see which threads contain unread posts, an indication within a thread on which posts are read and which are unread, and a link to the first unread post in a thread from the thread listing screen are the bare essentials and not at all hard to implement.
I been posting a bit on this forum over the last couple of days again, but I haven't posted here in months after I found out about SF's forum right after my couple of initial posts. I don't even bother coming here to discuss possible bugs or anything in the boards, guess why? Right, because the forum is not comfortable to work with, and I got more pleasant things to spend my time on than figuring out what threads are new and which ones contain new replies. Now I think this is kind of sad; the devs need the feedback, yet they drive lots of potential sources of feedback away by using forum software like the one in use now.
Argh, screw it. Edited post to get rid of two redundand paragraphs, of which one unnecessarily rude. Things didn't come out the way I ment them, and I don't wanna offend anyone.

Thank you!
You're welcome, isn't it nice when users do your work for you? ;)
But it's hard sometimes to keep calm in a discussion since there's still a lot of stuff that isn't quite what it should be, both in the game and on this forum. And that's frustrating sometimes, but it's still a product under development and frustrating bugs are normal and will get fixed eventualy. But sometimes it just seems as if fixing one little bug seems to take forever, while we know it's just fixing one line of code (like the newline bug in the logfile).
As a fellow programmer I understand though; it's quite unrewarding when you're working on implementing some new feature and all the client does is bitch about some small bug which isn't realy a priority right now, or some stupid side project that's not really important and hence not quite finished yet, but basicaly workable. More so when you're basicaly working on a shoestring budget and are pumping all your money into the project, like in this case.
That's why I retracted my comment. I placed myself in their shoes and thought about how I would feel when reading such a post.

Um. This isn't the finished message board btw. There's going to be much more "character integration" with the message board, and I'll bet there'll be plenty of pretty stuff. Maybe guild forums that are created when you create a guild ingame? Mmm.
