Voice chat problem
I joined a group and started hearing crackling over my speakers. But when I left the group, I still heard the crackling! I went into setting and push-to-talk was checked. I disabled voice chat all together, but I still heard the crackling? I logged off, came back on, STILL heard it! I quit the client, restarted, and heard it as soon as I got connected.
The only way I can run VO without hearing my own mic now is to plug in my headphone and not use my speakers.

If voice chat is completely disabled, it shouldn't be making any crackling noise at all. Check the Mic Level and see if it is going past the Transmission Level on the Voice Chat page.
Well, if it wasn't coming from my mic, where could it have been coming from?
I dunno. There's been random reports of the general sound/music being all messed up. It could be explained as crackling.
But it sounds like a keyed open mic. :P
ok, do you have any VO plugins installed?
Try deleting your config.ini and wgaf.cfg files (after backing them up if you want to keep your old settings) and see if the problem still exists.
When you left the group, did a message appear in your chat log that indicated that Voice Chat was disconnected?

VC sometimes opens an audio link between two players, seemingly at random. It has happened to me a couple of times since being reported in the second part of this thread :

Yeah, that's something we still haven't figured out. Seeing if 'Voice Chat Disconnected', or whatever the string is, is displayed will tell us if there is a sporadic random connection to another player.
Ok, I'll keep an eye open for it.It seems to happen even if a mission such as a voy has disconnected chat . I really can't see a pattern in how it starts, but creating then leaving a group stops it.
I normally have vc enabled, voice directed to usb headset, vo sound to internal spkrs . intel imac 10.6.
Oh, and whoever I was listening to earlier, please feed that dog....

It just happened again, while I was NOT in a group and instead being spammed by my proximity detector. (BTW what are all those ships doing in Dau L10?)
