I unequipped the gear on my ship during the training missions to upgrade my ship only to find out the new ship wiont accept the stuff for some reason(I dont uinderstand that either - 1 small port 1 power slot and thats all the free stuff requires). My power grid was at 4/20 and there was no other reason for the weapon not to be able to be equipped

What weapon was it? What were your licenses at the time?
(Combat/LightWeaps/HeavyWeaps/Trading/Mining)

We need to know some more information to help diagnose your issue.

Its possible guild limited equipping in the training sectors to just free stuff....

weirdly, I havent had the issue with any other character. I deleted the guy and restarted, now Im fine
