Escort mission bug

Jun 10, 2009 Barnicke link
I left Dau G-11 on an escort mission to Arta Cael. C-4. I could not do the mission because the jump point was just off the station (aprox 100m), centered in an asteroid. My brother had a similiar problem yesterday on his account.

Thank you.

The jump points are actually only suggestions and don't have to be used. Did the bots use that jump point?

That usually happens when you return to station after convoy launch and then get out again.

Happened to me a few times when I forgot to change ship or repair. Docked back and undocked in a matter of secs and jump point mark was at 20m from station.
Since i am an old player I just found it funny and went on my way.

@Barnicke
Jump point mark is just to help you orientate and get to jump distance faster.
Jump distance is 3000 m from any solid objects in space (station and asteroids).
Basically, you can fly in any random direction and when you get 3000 m away you can execute jump.

Raybondo,
Bots used a different jump point. I tried resetting my jump point, even docked and came back out. I could not change it untill the mission was over. I also tried to reset jump point after getting at least 3,000m from station. Didn't work. This happened again to my brother last night (Mogg). He didn't tell me the details, except that it was the same station. We just plan to avoid escort missions leaving from there again. It wasn't a big deal to me, just wanted to let you know.
Thanks again.
Bojan,
I knew about the 3,000m distance and did try it but it didn't work. I did not re-dock prior to the odd jump point. Thanks anyway.

You could not jump out of sector at 3000 m distance from solid objects?
Jun 12, 2009 Barnicke link
The jump point remained the same, even when I went beyond 3,000m distance, untill the mission concluded without me.

Ehm.... jump point mark is irrelevant. As Ray and me said: The jump points are actually only suggestions and don't have to be used.

So I will repeat my question: did you go to 3000 m from solid objects (station, asteroids) and attempt to jump?

And, again, just to make my point clear: You do not have to use jump point (suggestion) to jump from sector to sector. You can jump from anywhere as long as you are 3000 m from solid objects.

one place where the 'jump point' is basically fixed is during an ion storm. i've been screwed many a time when my ion storm exit point is in the opposite direction of the convoy i am escorting.

"Ehm... " What the hell is that, bojansplash? I am not a child, so keep your snide remarks to yourself. I had made it clear I knew of the 3,000m distance requirement, and had made it clear that I had attempted to reset my jump point from beyond 3,000 m. The reason for my post was solely to alert the makers of VO to a possible problem, not invite you to talk down to me because of your failure to comprehend my description of the problem. "So I will repeat my question:" - real cute, bojan. You may enjoy the anonymity of conversing by computer, but please refrain from flaunting your poor character in the future.

I am sorry if you found yourself offended and I apologize Barnicke.
It was not my intention.

In your first post you said: "I could not do the mission because the jump point was just off the station (aprox 100m), centered in an asteroid. " And in 2nd: "The jump point remained the same, even when I went beyond 3,000m distance, untill the mission concluded without me."

I was trying to help you realize that "jump point" mark is irrelevant and just a suggestion to the shortest way to get to 3000 m where you will be able to jump out of sector.
You did not answer my question about jumping out of sector without using jump point "suggestion" so I repeated the same question hoping to get a clear picture what actually happened.
You can do and finish escort mission regardless of this obvious jump point mark bug and that was the message I was trying to get to you.
