Radar Coloring Issue

Mar 19, 2009 Touriaus link
So this is an odd bug that i can reproduce over and over again.

When I go to option - controls - keyboard, and change something everyone on my radar turns "dueling blue". NPCS people and all turn blue on radar. It's weird and I have no idea why changing the control settings would do that (i touch no other settings)

and I have no skins or plugins installed of any kind and I've tried it both on my linux box with an ati card and my windows with integrated crap graphics. Both reproduce the same issue.

Not a clue O.o

Apparently other people seem to be having this issue as well. A newb mentioned it the other day.

Hmm. Very weird. By changing something you mean binding a key to any command?

I've been having this problem. I get it when i try to change move a key binding from a key that has been previously set and you get the message "key x is already set to primary fire, do you wish to change it. this is not a os specific issue, i've had it on both my windows and linux boots.
It is possible to rebind keys, you just have to remove them from the list, restart vo and then set them. i am using a dual joystick setup, the only other person who has mentioned to me was also.

I have a similar experience. Sometimes players look blue sometimes green. Hardly ever do enemies look red until after they have their ships' nose so far up my ship's exhaust with their guns blazing all I can do is die...which would probably be the same outcome even if i had better warning.

I have no plugins installed.

I was unable to replicate this problem when changing key binds. Were you guys changing joystick buttons instead? Were you hitting Apply and OK or just OK? Were you flying in space when you changed your setting?
Mar 23, 2009 zenmonkey link
It was jostick buttons i was changing. It only occurs for me after clicking ok on the message "this button is already set to x, do you wish to change it. The apply and ok or just ok makes no difference, neither does in space or in station, or before/after login. At one point i did have a series of lua error codes appear on screen, however i closed the box thinking it was a targetless problem. i have also tried with and without targetless in the plugins folder with no difference. I can recreate this problem at will, if there is anything (logs etc) that may be of help i would be happy to email them.

I've just been in and played around. the error does not occur when changing keyboard buttons, only joystick buttons.

It'll be fixed in the next client update.

raybondo>> I am changing changing keymaps on my joystick, and setting on joystick axis controls. I have sent numerous bug reports about this.

Not sure if it's related to joystick thing, but
when a dialog that's been shown with a popup function is visible the radar blips also turn duelling-blue,
it reverts when the dialog is hidden.

[edit] and only if it's at a different position than 0,0

Yeah, it was with joystick remapping in vo AND i get the same message that oddjob is talking about. next thing i know everyone is blue.

Touriaus>> what system are you using? I am on an Apple MacBook Pro.

I have asked several times in-game if anyone has this problem and had no affirming replies. I thought it was just me and my MBP.

I never get the bugreport screen if I only change the joystick settings. It is only when I change the keyboard mapping on the JS switches. And then only when I change more than one. If I quit to my desktop after each change then I don't get the BugReport.

Edit: March 25: Yah!!Yah!! This seems to be fixed now. Made changes to four buttons on my JS, then quit VO without getting the bugreport. Then on restart the changes persisted.

EXCELLENT JOB Developer Team!!
