Ubuntu 8.10 - Freeze when connecting
I've never actually gotten into the game yet, when I put in my login and password and click connect, it says connecting, but the screen freezes and nothing ever happens and I have to reboot. My NVIDIA driver is activated.

That is almost certainly a hardware issue. No game or application should be able to hardlock your machine, particularly in Linux. Are you sure the machine is totally locked? Can you hit, say, ctrl-alt-backspace and kill the X11 server?
I'd suggest trying some other 3D applications or games, and see if they work. GLX Gears, Quake, whatever.

I changed the network setting to "Discovery Compatability Mode" and it worked fine.
Whoa. That makes even less sense. A strange MTU size managed to lock up your linux box?
Anyway, uhh, glad it works! No idea.. why it does.
