Unable to persist Control key as a binding
I want to bind the right control key to the decelerate action, however when I attempt to do so, a small square is displayed in the configuration window, as well as in the output of /print 3.
I am able to use the control key as a decelerate button in the game, but when I quit the binding is lost and I have to re-configure it each time I start the game.
Whenever the game attempts to render this control character, the following appears in errors.log:
CTextDraw warning: trying to display character 4294967268 ('ä')

Thanks. It seems to be only a problem on AMD64. There's probably some 32-64bit translation bug on our part.

I was having a similar difficulty getting changes to my keyboard layout to persist after quitting VO. I found that if I made the changes one at a time and quit out of VO to my computer's desktop after each change the changes held.
I use an Apple MacBook Pro.
Aloha,

Hi oddjobbob,
I've got another bug about vendetta crashing on exit and not saving settings. This is a bug specific to the use of the control key, and it's not solved by changing one key and then exiting.

Any update on this bug? Ctrl still looks like a box in my control list.
Oh I'm sorry. I completely forgot about this. I'll fix it this week.
Hmm. Left Ctrl works on our amd64 machine but right Ctrl does the box thing.
Can you please see if left Ctrl works?

Yep, left control is OK (comes up as "Ctrl"), only right control is boxy.
Alt seems to do the same thing.
