Stuck character. Need help.
I died in s10 away from any stations and wormholes. My camera just stood there staring out into space. I decide to /logoff. I log back on and select my character... but I'm stuck with the "logging in" dialog box. I can see chat via console but I can't see anything else besides that dreaded dialog box. Could one of the devs perhaps toss me back into the s3 station? Maybe there could be a "reset home" button during the connection process that would automatically place you back into your home sector for stuck characters.
ahahahahahahahahaha!! welcome to the sector 10 station bug, a bug i know all too well. enjoy your stay. :)
when i died in s10, i lost all my rocket launchers even though they were visible in the HUD's inv. display.

This is the same thing dsnentry is complaining about and the devs keep asking if he has his ports open for his firewall. It's happened before and it's been fixed before. It's not the firewall.
Is THAT what dsnentry was talking about? If you re-read his description without having been able to chat with him, it isn't clear that he is actually making it into the game. Sounded like he was hanging outside in "loading textures" or "loading objects". In fact, he says he can't log in. Ya gotta be clearer folks.
Arolte, I tried (nearly) everything in the Guide toolbox to knock you loose. It's going to have to be a dev fix.

it's fixed. problem with config.ini last I heard from a1k0n.
from IRC:
<a1k0n> [Wed Jul 16 00:47:57 2003] ERROR! THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN.
<a1k0n> huh, that could be it

actually it was because the sector had a lock on the character when the sector crashed.
So there was a floating lock and it prevented things from happening correctly. It was bad timing, I guess.

It sucked. Nobody should have to go through that kind of pain ever again.
=(
Although from what I hear the chances of it ever happening again are pretty slim. You basically gotta die the same exact time a sector crashes.

Yeah, it was amazing. All at the same time:
- Arolte dies, so the sector requests a lock on the inventory in order to update it (i.e. remove his ship and his stuff)
- Someone else continues shooting rockets
- That same person's traffic somehow becomes corrupt, screwing up a rocket packet.
While decoding that packet, stuff broke in new and interesting ways. We fixed that now, but all the other sectors are still running the old code (until we do a restart).
