General Obersavtion and Testing of HS
Buggy Central HS in Sedina I-8, spotted at 9:28am CST. All bots lagged, shots not registering, bots 'teleport' due to lag or float aimlessly until they're updated then randomly jump to their 'preordained' position. No lag on my side but just the bots acting heavily lagged/sporadic. I aborted shortly afterward.
Took a Large HS in Sedina I-10 about 5-6 minutes after aborting the Central HS at 9:28am CST, no lag at all, from my side or the bots, ran smoothly.
Took another Large HS in Sedina J-7 at 9:44am CST, every thing is the same like the above details of the Large HS from Sedina I-10. However, the missions seemed to be very easily won within 1-2 minutes with little interaction from me.
Took another Large HS in Sedina K-10 at 9:47am CST and ended at 9:53am CST. No performance issues, however I noticed that if I don't interact with the mission (ex. not shoot at the Hive but fly around) the faction would eventually win it but at a slow pace, when I join in (ex. shooting at the Hive) the point difference between both sides gets wider and wider. I believe both the faction and the Hive started out with around 70 ships, I started fighting when the faction had 65-68 ships and the Hive had 55-60 ships, when it ended the faction had 58-62 ships left and the Hive was dead. I can only account for 5 kills in that whole battle.
Took another Large HS in Sedina I-9 at 9:59am CST and ended at 10:05am CST, no issues of any kind. I did not interact with the mission (ex. I boosted out in to infinity to observe) The faction won with 58-65 ships remaining, both sides started with 80 ships each.
Common HS in Sedina O-13 at 10:10am CST and ended at 10:22am CST, no issues. I was fully interacting and this mission seemed harder than the Large HS missions. The faction started with 55 ships and the Hive started with 60 ships, it ended with the faction wining with 35-40 ships remaining, I can account for 25-20 ships.
Small HS in Sedina H-10 at 10:26am CST and ended at 10:30am CST, no issues. Fully interacted with faction ships starting at 28 and Hive at 37, ended with faction ships at 10-20 remaining and I account for 10 ships.
Large HS in Sedina K-7 at 10:34am CST and ended at 10:38am CST, no issues. Fully interacted with faction ship starting at 68 and Hive starting at 67. It ended with an unknown amount of faction ships left over, I account for 12 ships. There was a warning for 15 ships lost but I still can't confirm the amount left over when the battle was won.
The Central HS mission popped back up in Sedina I-8 and I took it at 10:45am CST and aborted at 10:50am CST. I found no real major issues that resemble the last Central HS I took at 9:28am CST. Bots didn't jump around, shots registered, nothing lagged (except a noticeable dip in fps, most definitely my own computer limitations).
The result of this second Central HS is something that occurs most of the time I attempt to take on Critical or Central HS missions. The first one will lag beyond belief and I would abort due to how unplayable it is, but when I take it again, it's smooth and flawless and only my hardware is to blame for fps drops.
I would also like to encourage people to test a mission they happen to have trouble playing due to problems related to the mission, instead leaving it at the first try. I say this because testing a mission the second time may have different results which if reported can help the devs figure it out.
EDIT: All of these missions were taken today December 9, 2008.
And all missions were through Sedina L-2 Xang-Xi station.

Thank you for this excellent report Surb. Clearly we have some difficulty tweaking to do, in addition to solving the 'lag' problem. I haven't gotten this much feedback on the difficulty question from everyone else combined!
I would agree with surb's observations , though most of the HS missions I took were in serco space .
Looked for HS missions at Sedina L-2 & K-13 (Xang-Xi) none were found between 7:35pm and 7:40pm CST. Escorts were missing too. End observation at 7:50pm CST.
Sedina D-14 (Corvus) at 7:53pm CST have HS missions all located in Odia except the Central HS (no escorts).
Took Common HS in Odia I-12 at 7:56pm CST and ended at 7:56 or 7:57pm CST. Mission Logs report 2 faction ships killed, then an announcement that the Queen was killed despite it being an Common HS, however it may have been a Critical HS, I was sure it was Common. Despite that doubt, that was far to quick for it to have ended unless someone else was running the mission and destroyed the Queen (if there was one) moments after I joined. Mission taken at Sedina D-14, I never made it to the HS sector. No monetary/exp gain after the mission ended, which would make sense if I never reached the sector.
Took Common HS in Odia F-11 at 8:05pm CST and ended at 8:11pm CST. No issues, a person joined the mission. Ships for faction started at 55 and Hive at 60, ended with around 35-40 ships for the faction. Mission from Sedina D-14.
Took Central HS in Sedina A-5 at 8:14pm CST and ended at 8:22pm CST. I ran through it until all faction ships were destroyed, they started out at 212. 'Lag' issues were clear from the start, hits not registerting, and bots 'teleporting'. Recorded ping was 75.0 +/- 15.2ms, bps out: 16 in: 44 for the first minute in sector. At 8:19pm CST ping was 54.7 +/- 6.0ms, bps out: 60 in: 307. I was still in sector and boosted several thousand meters away from the main battle to observe if the 'lag' is related to my proximitiy to the bots, no change. As I approched the main battle the 'lag' disappeared as quickly as it came, time was 8:21pm CST, ping 73.0 +/- 25.5ms, bps out: 131 in: 2586. The mission ran as smoothly as it could on my computer with only one to two noticeable sets of energy fire that did not register on a bot, other than that, the sector was playable. One aspect standing out were the capital ships, both Constellation and Trident, at a very close proximity to the Leviathan. I would safely say all three of them were firing but with little effect. The position of the three was about 2,000 meters away from the main battle essentially making capital ships useless unless for repair/reload and rather dangerous to dock with while within 1,000 meters of the Leviathan's cannons. Mission taken from Odia M-14
I recommend changing Corvus faction color in HS missions or add a light colored semi-transparent background to the faction/Hive ship counter. (Black on Black = eye strain)

Critical HS, Rhamus E 11 . Arrived in sector, the serco forces were there, just 1 trident . No hive bots in sector at all , Serco just remaining static. The group is formed , but the queen/serco counter does not appear. Sat about for 10 mins, nothing happening .
Aborted mission , went back to G12, retook mission, still same as above.
I killed a queen after the mission ended in the previous crit HS in Rhamus ( O 11 ? ), no idea whether the two are related .

I just took the mission in e11. The queen and hive spawned a couple of seconds after I entered the sector.
It kinda sounds like what used to happen after killing a queen between missions. But I've never seen the hive spawn again in thoae sectors before.

Took the E 11 HS , now shown as being in a storm . Ran mission, but waited to kill the queen until after the mission ended. On killing the queen the hive warps out via storm exit.
Return to G 12 , shows E 11 storm critical still available, Retook mission returned to E11, just the serco forces present.
Perhaps killing a queen after the mission ends is causing stuff to get out of sync ?

I had a couple of really screwed up skirmishes between about 3:00 and 4:00am today.
One critical had two queens another three tridents.
The central missionin rhamus h15 was extremely laggy and the queens in there were unusually aggressive, two of them were always attacking the trident and killing it within a minute.
Most lag was gone after the mission failed. I didn't bother retaking it and just kept blasting queens. After a few rounds I managed to take down all queens, which caused the shield recharge rate of the levi to drop to 0, allowing me to solo it...

Wasn't repairs/reloads supposed to be free in HS when docking with capital ships? (ex. Trident)
