BS is nerfed a lot of the time...

24 December 1425 GMT. Just watched an Itani Teradon solo kill the Serco HAC from full shields whereas in the same battle earlier a Trident and Teradon died to the Itani HAC without denting its shields.

Lag still happening during random BS missions.

Today, 15:00 EST, Itani see a hung BS mission in station missions list as well as the advertisement for the 2200 mission.

If you take the hung mission and go to B-13 there are only two fighters (one serco, one itani) there and they never appear on radar.

Ok, please keep the reports coming. We're trying to track down and fix a number of different issues here, which might be related.

0600 GMT Border Skirmish on 30 Jan 2009 ran into a little hitch with the initial Itani Connie and the Serco Teradon (along with a couple of Serco Tridents) drifting off to the side. Neither the Connie nor the Teradon could take the other's shield down. By 1.5h into the mission, the Connie and Teradon were over 5 minutes away at 200m/s and both still had full shields; for all I know, they are still going at it. Tridents from both sides were seen turboing toward this side fight; Itani Teradons, not so much as they quickly took down the Serco HAC due to lack of any support or distractions. Usually when ships drift away it's not a big problem but this time it neutered the Serco side as it effectively took away their Teradon for the entire battle.

Have noticed cap ships maneuver more intelligently and with better distance control. (I like the way the Teradons sometimes maneuver to the stern of the HACs, by the way.)

Ok, well, we are looking into making the ships not drift off that way. Should be fixed on Fri, we hope.

However, I'm more curious if people are still seeing the kind of "hits don't register for long periods of time" problems with BS that they were seeing earlier. We've made some major fixes in the last few weeks that may have also impacted this.. not really sure.

Sometimes it seems that my missiles aren't hitting; I can stack a ship-load of missiles on a target and take down its shields one day with no problem and the next not be able to at all. It's harder to tell what's going on with missiles than with energy pulses though so I'm never sure if some of the missiles aren't registering or were shot down before they hit.

But generally, I feel like if I fire on something and it hits it does damage; before, it would feel like an exercise in futility so I'd say things are much, much better now. Cheers!

Nice progress on the ship positions, etc.

I did notice that the last two times I played (last night and Saturday evening) the sector got laggy during the times that both the Itani and Serco each had a Terradon in sector at the same time. Stacked missiles hits were not counting against the Terradon's shields.

Occasional spikes of lag have been showing up recently, for a few seconds the capital ships will stop firing and simply coast a bit, then spring into a new position a few hundred meters away. During the spikes of lag docking is not possible. They seem to happen most when 2 or more capital ships are in close proximity. Noticed it when a Serco Teradon engaged the Itani Connie and an itani Trident also joined in. All the ships were within about 200m of each other.

Thanks for the continued feedback, please keep it coming on stuff like this. Anything you can correlate between occurrences will help us narrow down the issue. Proximity between capships, for instance, could imply a collision-detection load, extreme turret targeting/firing issue, etc. So please, keep it coming.

Be specific with dates and times of witnessed problems, if possible. Thanks.

Everyone once in a while but not all the time there is a fairly obvious spike of lag where the capital ships would simply coast then abruptly snap into position a few hundred meters away. Noticed a fairly big spike when the serco connie passed by an Itani trident, then between the Itani HAC and connie, from there it coasted below the Itani HAC and finally settled nose to nose with the Itani HAC.

Another pattern I noticed more towards the beginning than at the end, lag spikes seemed to also occur around when new capital ships were spawned. I'm less confident on this as I had a tendency to die at these points however upon returning to the sector there was typically a new ship present.

EDIT to prevent double post

The way Connies and trident move themselves in front of the teradon to defend the HAC causes one of 2 things, either the teradon ignores the large object in its way and ram right into it or it changes its target to the defending ship. In the cases where it changes target the HAC guns do not check their fire. Although the enemy teradon is targetted the gauss bolts imapct on the friendly capital ship causing large amounts of damage. In the last skirmish I was in the Itani HAC actually got kill the kill shot on the Itani consteallation defending it.

11 March 2009 0600 Border Skirmish:

Same behavior noticed as previous post: lots of collisions with the HAC by Connies and Tridents and friendly fire incidents. One Trident got embeded in the fin of a HAC after a collision.

Also, at 00:50 wave of Itani reinforcements, I could not bring down the Itani Teradon's shields despite multiple attempts. Best I could do was to get them down to about 25% even with support fire from nearby cap ships. Serco eventually lost this mission despite being a HAC+Connie+2 Tridents ahead as the Itani Teradon killed them one by one. Frustrating.
