When starting Vendetta the game tries to update via the updater. However the updater displays "update failed". I have Ubuntu 8.04. I have installed and played Vendetta on Ubuntu 8.04 before with no issues, however I had to re-install the operating system from scratch, and this time I am having the update problem. Any suggestions???

Can you ping update.guildsoftware.com successfully?

Yes. No problems pinging update.guildsoftware.com

Maybe some firewall settings have changed when you reinstalled Ubuntu.

I found that a firewall "Fire Starter" had been enabled. So I turned it off and successfully pinged update.guildsoftware.com I then tried to run Vendetta and the same issue. Tries to update to 1.8.23.1, then puts me in a queue (#1 of 1) and then says "update failed"....... Also have un-installed and re-installed as home user and root but no good. I am at a loss. It sux too as I had a month subscription and only managed to use it a couple of times! :(

hmmm this is happening to me and its pissing me off, i helped my bro pay for a month last week and i think he might be screwing with the files.
anyway ive tried everything and it still doesnt get passed the updater.
