Don't know if this a bug or a feature.

If something passes very close by missiles that aren't targeted at it the missiles sometimes pick it as a new target.

Often when undocking from cap ships it starts beeping.
A while back me and somebody else were playing around with swarms. When some of his came close to me it started beeping. He said he didn't target me.
Today I fired some swarms at a distant bot while another closer bot flew towards me. Some of the missiles seemed to changed direction towards that other bot. I'm pretty sure I didn't change target while firing the swarms or something.

Could make for some interesting counter-measure tactics when large anti-ship missiles come into play. ("Incoming warhead! Someone go wave a red cape in front of it!") If it is a bug, I'd humbly suggest that it be identified and worked in as new mechanics to the missile targeting behavior.

Wow. That can plausibly happen if you get close enough to trigger its proximity detonator, but then it should a) target you; and b) immediately explode. I have no idea why it would do one but not the other. Sounds like a feature, though!

Were you maybe close enough to your attacker that the safety on the missile was still active? That might do it.

Well, lately it only happens when I undock, possibly when the cap fires missiles during the launch animation, but it's hard to tell.

Why would it target me when I trigger the proxy? Maybe I'm lagging out of the proxy distance before it can explode.

Could be really lag/ping related.. my ping is pretty high at times and nobody else seems to have this problem.

EDIT:
I tried to reproduce this again. It actually seems like I can make them target me at any time. I just have to fly through a volley of them, even when they were flying for a while already.
