It doesn't disappear when hive skirmishes fail.

EDIT: oups .. seems like it doesn't disappear when you aren't in the mission sector when it ends

I think this is now fixed. I'm surprised no one has reported that the bastion and stronghold counter starts at 0 and goes negative for the hive (the hive has no limit in these cases since you have to kill the queen or levi). I'll tidy that up this week.

Well I thought that was intentional. To show you how much ammo you've wasted killing useless drones. :P
