When taking escort missions, I've noticed a few times (more than twice) that the convoys I'm escorting will jump out of sector at 2400m or so instead of 3000. This usually only happens in the starting station sector. I follow the ships very closely so I know there is no possibility of the convoy somehow being 600m further out than me (I usually keep a distance of 50-100m from the group leader).
