looks like capships still take damage when somebody explodes on their hull.
I've even managed to knock out the shields that way once.

Why does it do no damage to the hull when I shoot 100k damage worth of stuff into it but it does damage when I blow myself up next to it?

the shields downtaking could be a wingbug related thing .. cause I got smashed by the ship that time.

when you run into stuff in a certain way you start bouncing around rapidly, dealing a crapload of damage to yourself and the thing you ran into.

Another capship shield bug sighted:
An itani cappie floating about in space, and a couple of [ITAN] members buzzing around it with healing beams (*load* *shoot* *load* *shoot* *load* *shoot* *load* *shoot* *load* *shoot* *load* *shoot* *buy ammo* *repeat*) healing it from about 1% back to 100%, when suddenly, when we're near 100%, the shields go down. No reason, they just dissapear. Poof! gone!

...so what happened?
They didn't come back at all either...

You broke it by overcharging the shield generators.

No, because the shields didn't come back on and I haven't seen another itani cappie since ^^;
