The "Buy back last ship" option seems to be picking white every time, regardless of what I was flying before. However, buying a new ship manually correctly chooses the correct color to start with.

I noticed this too... I was like, WTF? Why am I flying a white 'taur?

I figured it was just a reprecussion from buying that color on another character, so I didn't think much of it... but new ships still come in Red. :/

If you were flying a white ship and then died, the buyback will be white.

Did you make sure you said 'No' to buyback and then buy it manually and then fly that one instead?
Did you verify that you were actually flying a non-white ship when you exploded? Try using a free bus to verify.

I tried it and the buy-back ship was the correct color.

Yeah, i had been flying a non-white ship when it happened. I seem to remember that the "no ships or equipment listed at station" bug may have happened at the same time, so that might have been the cause.

I dunno. That bug shouldn't have affected the ship colors.

Oh, that is why I suddenly found myself in white ships...
