If you get killed by lightning mines, you get spaced. Your ship is destroyed, but your viewpoint just sits in space. You have to /logout and log back in to get to the Buyback screen. It's very annoying, and reminiscent of something in pre-3.2

I was in external camera view, and had no hull indicator. This happened to Bacix Tenra and me with Arolte's Lightning Mines, so ask any of them if they have info. It was like the exploit in 3.1.12 where you could issue with the flag and hold it forever.

roguelazer... were you flying a cent? Incarnate mentioned a problem in passing in "ship update" under the suggestions section that sounds exactly like what you're saying. I had it happen to me once, but it wasn't done with lmines. I actually got the view you're talking about before I died.

I think t's connected to the famous docking while dying bug.
I had this bug also while I got hit by like 150 swarms at the same time.

I logged out in a prom right in front of the frigate and when I logged on I hear an explosion and my ship is gone, and the background of the 'u' screen was sitting there, no hull indicator either...
