Lot's of random segfaults

I wasn't around for some time, so I checked last week on a trial account how it plays after re-installing Gentoo and changing ISP. I had no problems as of Sunday, and today I payed for my primary account.

First thing I discovered -- the game crashes with "Segmentation fault" if I use Tab in the login screen. And if I use Tab at EULA dialog, it segfaults too (and what even worse, I can't connect to VO instantly after it)

So I finally struggled through these segfaults, played for several minutes (Tab worked fine both in station interface and in flight), and the game segfaulted again. And now it crashes whenever I succeed to get to character selection on entering universe. IRC reports that I am online, VO reports about another segfault.

I tried to remove config.ini and wgaf.cfg and it the game segfaulted right when it finished loading, before showing login screen.

So I am totally screwed, and you have no idea how badly it sucks >_<

Ok, I now I am stupid :)
Athlon 1000/512 mb of RAM @ Gentoo Linux 2.6.18-ck1
Radeon9200/256 mb, proprietary ATI driver version 8.28.8
Using ALSA sound driver (switching to OSS changes nothing)

I found out how to enable Tab in login screen. I simply removed this line from wgaf.cfg:
bind Tab +myzoom
It was referring to this simple bind:
set fov 90
alias +myzoom 'set fov 30'
alias -myzoom 'set fov 90'
bind Tab +myzoom

But anyway the game segfaults when logging in

EDIT: I tried to login with char which was sitting in station, and succeeded. Then I decided to /set fov 80 and undock. And the game segfaulted again.

Ok, looks like I can log in if I set fov to 75 in wgaf.cfg

That's really weird.
Are you using more recent or older video drivers now than you were before?
Mar 30, 2007 Aleksey link
The drivers didn't change after Sunday (when I had no problems)

Maybe your recent OpenGL changes made it impossible to play with fov 90?
Mar 30, 2007 Aleksey link
Oh, and the game still segfaults if I run it without wgaf.cfg
Mar 30, 2007 Aleksey link
And I still get random segfaults on entering sectors even with fov=75

Pretty lots of segfaults in ion storms

...and WH sectors. And everywhere. But mostly in storms and WH sectors.

Wow that's cool. I don't have any problems!
Mar 30, 2007 Aleksey link

Thanks guys for understanding that I am trying to get attention of devs to my problems

BTW, I have no crashes if I run VO in wine... however it's not playable, as I mouse behaves weirdly in flight

I have no idea. Is the VO Bug Reporter starting when you segfault?
Mar 31, 2007 Aleksey link
No, it didn't. Maybe it will after this update
EDIT: No it doesn't start the Bug Reporter
