Seing double during jumps
I'm just assuming this is not how it should look:

I'm using a "nVidia GeForce Go 7400 (256 MB)" with a 1280x800 display.

Someone else just jumped alongside you, no big deal. :) There ARE other people and NPCs in the universe, occasionally.
:)
:)
NPCs tend to enter the sector at the same time you do if it's been a while since anyone has been in the sector.
It happens _every_ time. I've probably done a few hundred jumps, so just how likely is that explanation?
Also, it's always in the corner, just like that, and there's a visible border around the smaller effect.
If you still don't believe me I can take some more screen dumps.

one thing I sometimes see is that jump effects get duplicated into the radar area.
Oh. Weird. Try turning off the "full scene glow effect" and see if that changes it.
The pic is 404 now. :(
I assumed you had seen it. Unless you're going to dismiss me I can, like I said, put up more examples.
I looked at it once, and thought it was what I said. But with andy's suggestion, I wanted to see the pic again.
More screendumps would be nice.

Also, is this under Linux?
I didn't catch it on my initial inspection of your screenshot, but the operating theory is that the glow effects for the wormhole, which are supposed to be rendered in the background and copied to a texture, are actually being shown in the foreground. Hence my suggestion.
I imagine it's more immediately obvious in motion, but I didn't see any discontinuities in your screenshot which would have given it away.

If so, I get that from turning off the background. You see the local sun as well. On the login screen you even get a ghostly image of the station :) If I remember right, you also see weapons fire.

Kragmier: ah yeah. I really need to fix that some day.
bkhl, is that what you're seeing? When I looked at your image, I was thinking of bots entering at the same time as you, so that's how I saw it.
This 'ghost' rendering problem has always been there for the linux version, but it wasn't deemed important at the time, since it only shows up on video cards with the ARB_fragment_program extension. At the time, there weren't very many cards with that support in linux because nvidia/ati linux drivers were so far behind in features. Now it looks like I need to do something.

just dont play when drunk.
hah, unfortunately, its not that simple. The ghosting thing isnt a huge issue, but it is a touch annoying
