Background missing after Storm...
I'm sure this is known... but to be absolutely sure:
After leaving a storm sector, the background, other than stars, is not displayed until you load another sector. Seems to be on all platforms (according to in-game reports). And with all settings I've tried on my 24" iMac (256mb 7600GT).

I'd forgotten how creepy and claustrophobic the game feels with backgrounds off. I kinda like it in a sense, feels a bit more like "space", though it can be a bit disorienting in a dogfight. Maybe the existing skyboxes are a bit too "busy"?
Oddly enough I quite like the effect , a sort of temporary storm blindness.

I'd actually like an option to have just the starfield and no nebulae.
Interestingly enough when I get this I don't experience the starfield either. It's just a completely blank, black backdrop, completely unnatural and very disorienting.
and I thought it was a 'feature'.
I get just the stars and no nebulae. I would also like it as an option as I quite like the effect, as the nebulae do not look gaseous, they look too bright and get pixelated when zoomed in. Stars on the other hand look OK when zoomed in, and also look quite good when zoomed out.
I would also like to have just the stars and not the nebulae. Feels more like what I would expect space to be.
Heh, well, the nebula is supposed to be there. I'm looking into the problem and hopefully I can fix it for friday's patch.
I feel so lost without the nebula :(
If it helps pinpointing the issue, Ray, I noticed that often the wormhole animation at the Storm Exit Jump Point is at times missing altogether, at times clipped off, at times working for the big yellow/blue circles, but cut off for the blue stream of particles behind the wh itself.
Maybe it's related.
Maybe it's related.
That's odd, I never had that problem. Maybe it's setting/computer related?
Syylk: I think it depends how fast you're going. The animation might be behind the fog but still playing.
Ok, this problem is fixed for tonight's patch.
