Equipping Items Fails
I've had this happen twice with the same results. I'm unable to reproduce it intentionally.
Both times I was in a corvus station (first time in Sedina, second in Odia)
Both times I went to the equip menu and attempted to equip a small-port item that I had previously recovered from a destroyed convoy and unloaded in the station.
The first time it was an Orion XGX Phase Blaster, which I was attempting to equip to an EC-107.
The second time it was an Advanced Mineral Scanner, which I was attempting to equip to a Tunguska Centaur Agrresso.
Both times, I would select an empty port to equip it to, and select the item in the list and click equip. The port would un-select itself, but the item would not be equipped, and would remain in the equipment menu. I also tried double-clicking the item with the port selected, with the same effect.
The first time I gave up, and finally just selected a Law Neutron and left the station when the law was equipped successfully. AFter leaving, I noticed that my ship's hold was suddenly full of Orion XGX Phasers, in about the same number as the attempts I had made to equip it. I gave them away to some new players I was helping that night.
The second time, I noticed the same difficulty occuring, and checked my cargo hold out of curiosity. Sure enough, the Advanced Mineral Scanner was replicating itself into my cargo hold eveyr time I tried to equip it. Thinking it maybe had something to do with it being an item I could not purchase at that station, I tried it with an Ultra-charge battery to see if the effect was the same. The ultra-charge equipped fine, so I unequipped it and reequipped the FC I was using. I then tried equipping the Adv Mineral Scanner one more time, and it equipped fine. I unloaded the replicas of the scanner from the failed attempts into the station hold.
So in short:
sometimes items won't equip to ships
when this happens, it is possible to 'clone' the items to your hold
the bug does not reproduce consistently

Were these 'stacked' items?
If they were stacked, they did not show as such in the equipment menu. I suspect they may have been though, since I thought I had picked up more than was showing.
Do they stay cloned if you logout/in? Er, I guess they must if you were able to give them away. Neat!
I'm thinking they were multiple items to begin with, but only displaying as one in the equipment tab... is this possible?
