sectorlist fucks up gameplay MAJOR (can't exit)
This is the same bug that I've complained about in the navmap in the past, only in sectorlist it's a thousand times more annoying, and more dangerous, because you use sectorlist (u) frequently in the middle of combat to check up on who else is in the sector.
1. Holding tab when pressing u puts chat in focus in sectorlist, so pressing u again to get out doesn't work - it goes to the chat.
2. Holding other combinations of keys seems to do it too sometimes.
3. If it happens, you can't use escape to get out either until you release tab (thereby stopping turbo and rendering yourself vulnerable to the five ass-raping unbots following you) and then, it sometimes takes two clicks of escape (when it doesn't, it takes one, and the second instinctive press of escape because it's slow to respond puts you in the options menu, which you then need to figure out how to get out of) Meanwhile, the unbots (or players, God forbid) are raping your stuck-in-menu ass.
This is by far the most maddening issue I've experienced with the client so far, and it's virtually prohibitive of gameplay. Please fix it SOON, because I don't know how much more of it I can put up with, and I've only been playing 15 minutes with it so far!
4. Slightly less annoying, but still an issue - clicking on a player or bot selects them, but the sectorlist remains open, so you need to search for the close button before you can engage... more built on habit, but costs precious seconds when you need to find and attack a player/bot fast.

Please clean up your post! My eyes hurt from the foul language!
Ever tried a turbo bind?
4. The target you selected immediately appears in the target window at the top right. I found this slightly disconcerting as well, but pressing U again closes the window. I've found targeting speed is about the same timewise, but its a habit I have to reform, because I expect the window to close. I'd prefer it to close when you click a target, as it did before.

As suggested in another thread, double-clicking on a target to close the sector list would be fine also.

Anything's better than going from the joystick to the mouse, to the keyboard (where you risk hitting the ` key reaching for Esc, thereby bringing up the lua box) and then back to the joystick.
And Tumble, you also have to factor in the amount of time it now takes to process all the new data... I'm finding that having playernames at the far right of the screen is very difficult to adjust to.

I can't edit the subject, otherwise I would, sorry.

Ok, we'll figure something out to deal with this problem.
Cunjo, are you opening the PDA with a mouse/joystick button?

Ray: yes, I am, but the joybutton sends the 'u' keystroke via virtual keyboard, so the input the game recieves from it shouldn't be any different from the KB.
Another thing I recently discovered: it does it only the first time you open the sectorlist after the beginning of any turbo burn - if you keep turboing and use esc to exit the sectorlist, then open it again with u, the problem doesn't recur. It does, however, come back if you release the turbo and do it again.
It also seems far more likely to do it if you have recieved a /msg or hail from someone that session, and it will try to start returning the message as if you had activated chat then pressed tab.
I'm not the only one getting this... I saw a few instances of 'uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu' in sector chat today.

How's your keyboard, Cunjo? I'm gonna go out on a limb and blame the keyboard.
Ok. The way a keyboard works is that it key-repeats the last key that was pressed as long as it is held down. When you press a different key, the keyboard stops sending the old pressed key and starts sending the new pressed key.
So, you're holding Tab and the keyboard is sending tab tab tab tab tab tab... until you press u. However, you are not physically pressing u on the keyboard so the keyboard is still sending tab tab tab tab... until you press Escape to close the menu. Then the keyboard isn't sending tab anymore. This key-repeat thing is a hardware level thing and having the joystick send a virtual key does not override the key-repeat.
Now that I understand what's going on, I'll see what I can think up to deal with the issue.

hmm, that would explain why it seems less of an issue when using the throttle turbo than the keyboard... unfortunately, I can't use the throttle turbo in combat, since the strafes on the throttle just don't work.
Uggg!! Still not fixed I think.
And neither is the incorrect Serco player coloring in the HUD in the Border Skirmish mission.
