The name generator seem to have repeated the same first name quite a few times on several names

here are two sets of name's that are currently online

Essan Bashane
Esson Lennenk

and
Broma Bashanotti
Broma-Ba Slick

Also, there has been a time or two when I've seen NPC traders in the same sector-with the same names

Every culture has common first and last nmes. I don't think that's a big deal. I would be interested in seeing a screenie of two bots with the same name.

That's quite possible. Hang out in Sedina B-8 for a while--sooner or later two Corvus pirate NPCs of all the ones that come will have the same name.
