Yes, I still have the trouble with my EPIA computer, but was wanting to play so I fired up VO on the ibook. Worked great, just like I remembered. Then today, I the client quit about 35 seconds into starting up.

At least when it crashes on the mac I get these error logs. Hopefully this will help with the diagnostics.

Oh yeah - I reproduced this three times this morning. After it happened the firs time, I did it again. After the second, I shut down the computer but later came back, booted and tried again. At that time I figured I should check the logs that I posted above.

Alright. Thanks for the log. That will help determine exactly what the problem is.

Here's a stange thing to try:
Create a new user on your computer and run VO from that user and see if it works.

Also, go into the Vendetta bundle and delete the config.ini and wgaf.cfg files.

Basically, the problem is this error:

I deleted the files you suggested and the problem still persists.
I also noted an ignorelist file unique to the login ID as well as a generic ignorelist file. I deleted both of those, same effect.

I just deleted vendetta from my ibook.

Don't worry, I'm not leaving. heh.

I'm downloading the game again (at the moment) and will re-install to see if that helps at all. It's doubtful, but I figured it was worth the try.

Well that seems to have solved the problem. I only had time enough to d/l the binaries, reinstall and then launch the application - which all worked correctly.

Not sure what the glitch was, but it appears to be gone now.

Further update: it happened again. I'm starting to suspect my RAM, or lack thereof. I have 256 on this ibook and when I checked last, there wasn't a whole lot free when I tried to run Vendetta.

I haven't bothered sending any more logs because they are the same as the last logs.

Hmm, interesting. Maybe the dynamic loader fails because there's not enough memory. Try quitting all other apps and set your desktop to a lower res to see if that helps.

Nope, that hasn't helped. I made sure I had significantly more free ram before starting and had no other programs running when I launched and still get the errors.

I'll try another reinstall, but only because it seemed to fix the problem once before.

Good news Ray - after installing more ram, I can now play again.

256 MB = no love from VO client
768 MB = VO love me long time.

I play VO also on my iBook G4 1.33Ghz with 768MB Ram and never had a single crash or problem. So maybe you did not have enough ram? But I thought uses then HD Virtual RAM instead? Should also work with just 256MB RAM no? Real sloooooow though? What about your video memory? How much of that does your ibook have? I am at 32MB.

My ibook is a 1.0 Ghz with the same 32 MB ATI card that your 1.33 has. It now has 768 MB but you are right in one respect - it is not a RAM problem.

I had played the game without error with only 256 MB and then again with 768. When I tried launching the client today, I again got the error, after a fresh reboot. Same errors, same logs. I don't really suspect the game code, as it has run without incident. I suspect something with my machine, perhaps permissions, etc. I'll let you know if I manage to exorcise this ghost from my machine.

Is there a way to check your ram on the mac to make sure none of it is bad?

I ran through memtest for OS X on the weekend - the ram is good.

I'm assuming it is a permissions thing that I will have to sort out.
