Are you running unecessary applications in the background?
thats the thing, no error mssg, im runing avg anti virus thats all... it a mystery to myself and my2 roommates
it just wont execute...hit play and im back at desktop...
disk full, maybe?
ok, a few things to do:
1: open your errors.log file in the vendetta folder (where you installed the game to) and see if its giving you any specific errors/reasons for the crash back to desktop.
If it is, post that error here and we can help you, if not
2: delete your config.ini and your wgaf files from the vendetta folder.
the game will re-create them using defaults and if one of them has somehow become corrupted and is causing the crash that will fix the problem there.
if that STILL doesn't work..... hmmmm...
A thought.. do you have direct X 9? the new client requires it i believe.
also, you might try some of the steps ray suggests in this thread

ok now this is bizare... i only have 2 openable folders in c:\program files\vendetta online ... manual, and drivers. and the drivers file is completely empty????? other symbols for other files there but i cant open any of them, and nothing but graphics in manual folder file, im no expert, but im not exactly green, having a completely empty drivers folder file seem very strange to me. i got original set up from new berlin site direct link from here.
the only thing other than that is my prosesor... its amd athelon 1100 mhz... that should work, right, everything else more than adequte

Jade/Xprmnt2:
If I followed what you said about trying to open the errors.log, your explorer (the thing you browse files with) is set up to not display file extensions or system files. You can change that, if I remember correctly, by choosing Options from the Tools menu and digging around a little. Then the drivers should be visible in the drivers folder.
The important thing, though, is to find the errors.log file (just errors if you don't change your explorer options) and right click it. If you can't find it, and haven't set explorer to display system files, then that must be necessary (.log must be considered a system file). But, I'm guessing .log isn't associated with anything, so the bold option will be "Open With..". If this isn't the case, I think you can hold down either ctrl, shift or alt while you right click it to get the open-with option back (it's always there in 2000/xp). Then, from the list of applications that comes up, you'll want to select notepad (or wordpad). If you have trouble with this, you could also try opening the file from the open dialog of your favorite text editor, though you may need to choose a file-type option that doesn't screen out non-Word docs or whatever.
Once you've got it open, regardless of what it says, post the last 20 or so lines here, and we'll take it from there.
Hope this helps, and Welcome to VO!

Within the folder, you click Tools, then drop down to Folder Options, then click the View tab.
Different Windows versions may differ, but from my work system I just have to uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types".

Are you able to move the mouse cursor at all or is the game 100% unresponsive?
Do you reboot your computer or otherwise kill off VO when it gets into that state?
How long did you let VO run when it was frozen?

Hey raybondo :)
No, the mouse is frozen fast.
I let the thing run on for about twenty minutes once to see if it could figure its own way out, no joy.
Just for test, entered the coontrol settings before singing onto the game itself, the splash screen and everything seemed to be going fine, till i enter my name and password to play, the music continues looping, but the screen goes to black, mouse stops, and could only get out by hitting my "windows" key then closing Venetta from there...
I wanna play.., waaa! Any hope?
CORRECTION
Guess me putter is learning a little bit anyways. Now when i hit connect, screen goes black but with a small "connecting/cancel" box in the center and me mouse seems to work, now! Butt getting a server timeout, too. Aarrgh!
