They don't know yet. Much of the work has been going into getting the update out. I see that Incarnate is now involved, so I suspect that investigating the cause will be expedited.

We'll look into it, and I'll post something to News. If I had to take a wild guess, it may be related to Deliverator. But, honestly, I have no idea. We need to do some server maintenance anyway.. so if it's something we can fix, we'll do so as soon as possible.

Do not take my post listing a1k0n as the person to blame as anything but a joke. The Devs are looking into the problem and it will be corrected or explained.

Seriously, though. It is DEFINITELY getting worse. It's MUCH more apparent now than it has been before.
It happens like 3 or 4 times an hour now, easily. Each bump is a break in loading a sector or scrolling chat of about 10 seconds.

If does not seem to affect gameplay, just chat, and just sector loads. It's very odd.

It's an old problem. A while back, I was like "Ray, why the hell is it doing this dumb shit?" and Ray's like "well, it has to! The client will be confused if it doesn't!" and I'm like "well, why don't you just fix the goddamn client? It's not that hard."

Well anyway, that's where we are right now. I can periodically clean up the server (it accumulates hunderds of megs of junk data in RAM) if I remember what the problem is; the client isn't really fixed. So, I will nag Ray to make sure the new client isn't so stupid.

According to andreas, the lag is still with us.

I was online tonight and noticed it mildly. Not as bad as it was on Saturday 1/7/2006, but it was still there. "andreas" is correct.

I guess we get to fix the "goddamn" client before we put the new UI out? It's easy, since Andy's like ""well, why don't you just fix the goddamn client? It's not that hard."

Whatever you did regarding the lag didn't fix the problem. There is still MASSIVE lag. I just had a fight with pilot13 and we both saw significant lag every 10s or so.
