okay, I was fighting someone yesterday, both of us had a ping around 100, and yet somehow we were both experiencing EXTREME lag, to the extent that a rag and a hornet firing at eachother would slide straight and then jump a kilometer or more during the fight... PKs with rails were easy, because during the motionless lag slide, you could hit and kill the other player.

Chat has also been unusually laggy for me lately... once every minute or so, my message would lag for 3-10 seconds before going through. I check my ping, but it appears fine... (in fact, it was showing the same 108 ping every time I tested)

Kindof unrelated to the lag or ISP/server issues, I seem to be having an issue with FPS... something with windows not liking my client and going into fits of CPU binging... last night, every 10-20 seconds, my FPS would drop from its average of 55, down to 1 or 2 for a couple seconds. This made it IMPOSSIBLE to fly a light ship into combat.

Perhaps the problems are related and Windows-based? IE: Windows is suddenly hitting 100% CPU for a few seconds for some idiotic reason, and therefore causing low FPS and lag as the network stack gets confused?

I get sector chat lag when there's a convoy in the sector. Channel chat is still ok.

I'm getting all kinds of chat lag, with and without convoys in the area. Lots of times sitting in an empty sector helping a player.

Yeah, sometimes im jumping to an empty sector, and I have to wait, this isnt normal, sometimes I will send a sector message, and then be able to send several channel/guild other chats before the sector message apears, and there are sometimes convoys about and not, maybe its time to take F@H off? :P

Sometimes I notice that the VM usage is unusually high (400mb rather than the usual 200ish) and that processor usage hits the roof (Vendetta plays usually at about 80% CPU usage on both my systems, recently, its using 100%) - is this some debug thing? What is causing the overheads in data transfer? cos it isnt about ping, im usually a steady 110ish.

I use a 2.4 P4 or an AMD64 Turion in mi notebook, Linux on the first, Windows XP on the second - I do run some stuff sometimes that can interfear with my connection, but anyone that knows me will know its not usually when im playing VO :P Im located in England.

I suggest you move to the states yoda.

Yea I've been getting lag recently as well.
But for an unrelated reason.
Which I've fixed WOOOOT!

The reason I believe it unrelated, is that I continued to have the lag issue even when the FPS issue was not causing problems... they would both phase inand out, but not in unison.

FM, I'm on T1-Class DSL in Florida, Verizon ISP BO is Tampa (a fair ways from here...)

Windows likes to hit 100% CPU for idiodic reasons, but that should not be affecting my lag during the breaks of proper operation inbetween...

The biggest lag I've seen is always when I'm fighting a specific person, but both of us have pings close to 100, which by no means should be enough to make a rag bounce a fukll kilometer...

I suggest everyone move to Milwaukee to eradicate this problem.

Although, in all seriousness, I have been experiencing odd lagginess as well, more noticeable in chat, but I never used to lag in chat or ESPECIALLY combat at all. I don't know if it's some new problem introduced, or if it's the convoys, or if it's my connection. Too many things have changed, and it's not really a huge problem for me, yet.

If we all move to Milwaukee... then why wouldn't we just run around outside making blaster sounds?

I occaisionally experience severe chat lag... and usually, when I have combat lag... it's because of my ISP... stupid ISP

its the sever. the chat lag is a pain in the ass.
