Cargoes Timing out SOOOOO Fast

So, Cargoes seem to be timing out extremely fast. Basically, I shoot up a ship in Verasi C2, jump out to get my moth, and by the time I come back they're gone. Less than 5 minutes.

There has been lots of topics on this lately, and I agree can we PLEASE have cargo times increased? A couple days ago I could've gotten 50-60 pure xith but by the time I got back to pick them up they were gone. (Less then 5 minutes.)

Cargo times out in 15 minutes, or when the sector shuts down, whichever comes first. CtC cargo times out slightly faster. Sectors shut down after 5 minutes of inactivity. Devs are working on making cargo persist sector shutdowns.

No, what I mean is that they were timing out faster than 5 minutes. I would get back to a sector in under 5 minutes easy, and the widgets would either be gone... or else would poof right in front of my eyes. Nothing to do with the sector shutting down.

Cargoes time out in 3 minutes if dropped by NPCs, 15 minutes is for player drops.

I'd like to see it lengthened too, it's very very hard to pirate convoys in a moth, and nearly impossible to get back in time to collect if you do go to get one. Which still leaves working in teams, but it'd be nice to have the option at least to go solo.

Absolutely, without a doubt, cargo dropped by npcs times out faster than 5 minutes, without the sector shutting down. I suppose that this could be a part of the game (promoting teamplay, or something like that), but its just waaaaay too fast. WAY too fast, even for teamwork.

Sorry to resurrect this but Hyperwave claims to have killed the Leviathan @18-18:15 CT on 11/20 and the cargo was not there when he returned to pick it up.

I know the timeout was adjusted but is the Leviathan cargo different?

Well, here's what was actually said / done:

Changing one number doesn't really fix the problem totally, since we don't save cargo when sector processes idle out. But it probably helps, so I'll change the frickin' number now. "

In short: Yes, the cargo timeout was changed, but if the sector is left empty (of live pilots) for long enough (5 minutes?) then the whole sector goes idle and the free-floating cargo info is not saved. Annoying, yes. The workaround *for now* is to have an accomplice. It was never intended that anyone could kill a Levi solo anyhow.

The sector management code may be one of those areas that has been totally re-worked, and the fix would occur when the replacement code is put onto the production server. For those that missed it, see Incarnate's post http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/12147?page=5 for the redux saga.
